Dr Danny Stewart
Paediatrician
Qualifications: FRACP MRCP DCH MBChb BSC (psychology)
Specialty interests: Neurodiversity, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Danny graduated from Manchester University with a degree in psychology and then medicine in 1979. He moved to New Zealand in 1980, trained in paediatrics and obtained his FRACP specialist qualification in 1988. From then he worked as a general paediatrician at Gisborne Hospital, before moving to Starship Children's Hospital in 2000, where he continues to practise. He has previously been clinical director in paediatrics over many years at Gisborne, Starship, Waitakere and North Shore hospitals.
Danny’s special interests within general paediatrics include neurodevelopmental paediatrics especially neurodiverse conditions including ADHD and autism spectrum disorder, in which he has experience of additional diagnostic techniques and multidisciplinary working.
Danny is married to Heather and has two adult children, Sam and Lucy. He lives in Devonport and enjoys sailing in which he has extensive experience in both New Zealand and the UK.
